FITZWILLIAM MUSEUM, cAMBRIDGE - Heroes and Artists Popular Art and the Brazilian Imagination

Brief: To design and produce a highly illustrated catalogue to accompany an exhibition opening in 4 months at The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge.
Problems: Organisers face difficulties in obtaining many of the exhibits, resulting in the writing and photography being delayed. Schedule slips badly.
BPC’s approach: The team draws on all its skill and experience to plan as much in advance as possible. This enables the whole production process to be expedited once the text and pictures are finally received.

Producing books and catalogues about works of art is always a challenge, particularly in terms of handling the creative approach and ensuring optimum colour reproduction of the images. Heroes and Artists was no exception. Despite a nerve-shattering schedule, corners could not be cut and quality had to be maintained.

Throughout the process, the BPC team kept the project firmly on track by maintaining regular and efficient communication with the client, author, copy-editor and suppliers. They also used their expertise to problem solve and steer the most effective course possible, not only to ensure the finished publication fulfilled the client’s aims and objectives, but to produce something that was a genuine pleasure to look at and read.

“May I thank the whole team at BPC for the professional and sympathetic way in which you have dealt with us in very difficult circumstances.”
